With music one can say what cannot be expressed otherwise. Music makes intangible things tangible and touches in a special way. From the first note, Pablo Barragán masterfully creates a connection to his audience. His performance is differentiated, elegant and perfectly nuanced. For each work the Spaniard creates his own color palette, even reaching sometimes for the basset clarinet.
As soloist and chamber musician, his performances lead him again and again through Germany and Europe, from the Philharmonie in Berlin, to the Bayerischen Rundfunk in Munich, the Laieszhalle in Hamburg, the Tonhalle Zürich, to the Konzertgesellschaft Basel, into the Auditori Barcelona and to the Athenaeum in Bucharest.
Pablo Barragán’s curiosity always leads him to new interpretive discoveries with orchestras such as the Sinfonieorchester Basel, Hamburger Symphoniker, the Orquesta de Radio Television Española, the Slovak Philharmonie and Chamber Orchestra, Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, or the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra and with conductors such as Clemens Schuldt, Gabriel Feltz, and Christoph Poppen.
The intimacy of chamber music in turn opens up entirely new perspectives. Making music together with for example Martha Agerich, Viviane Hagner, Kian Soltani, Vivi Vassileva, Frank Dupree, Mario Härig or the Schumann and Novus Quartets, and at festivals such as Lucerne Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Klosters Music, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Young Euro Classic Berlin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival or the Bratislava Music Festival, have very special meaning for him.
His musical friendship with Juan Pérez Floristán (piano) and Andrei Ioniţă (cello) led in 2018 to his highly praised debut recording of the Brahms clarinet trios and sonatas on the Spanish label IBS. Since then, the three have given performances in leading musical centers of Europe.
Barragán was awarded the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes in 2013 and honored with an invitation to the Lucerne Festival in the same year. He is a prizewinner in numerous international competitions including the ARD Music Competition 2012, the Juventudes Musicales de España 2011 and the European Music Competition for Youth 2011 (EMCY).
Barragán studied at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid before moving to Matthias Glander at the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Berlin. In 2009, he went to the Basel Academy of Music, where he studied in the master class of François Benda. Martin Fröst, Charles Niedich and Dimitri Ashkenazy also gave him new impulses in master classes.
Pablo Barragán is a Backun Clarinets Artist and performs exclusively on Backun Lumière clarinets. As a representative of D’Addario & Silverstein and as professor of the Orchestra Joven de Andalucía, he gives masterclasses in his home country to promote young talent. Since 2020, Barragán is professor of clarinet at the Barenboim-Said Foundation.
Noa Wildschut
Dutch violinist Noa Wildschut (2001) is only 20 years old, but has already gained her place in the international classical music scene. At the age of 6 she appeared live on Dutch national television for the “Kinderprinsengrachtconcert 2007” in Amsterdam. Aged 7 she made her debut in the Main Hall of The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam at the “Night of the Promising”. In September 2016 she became an exclusive recording artist for Warner Classics.
Over the years Noa has built a considerable reputation and is regularly invited for festivals, recitals and solo performances with orchestras, both in her home country, The Netherlands, and abroad. She has played together with inspiring musicians such as Janine Jansen, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Menahem Pressler, Igor Levit, Enrico Pace, Quirine Viersen, Paolo Giacometti, Arthur and Lucas Jussen. In recent years Noa has performed as a duo with pianist Yoram Ish-Hurwitz and since 2018 Noa forms a duo with the German pianist Elisabeth Brauß.
She works with orchestras such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Kremerata Baltica, Mutter Virtuosi, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Gürzenich Orchester Köln, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Orquestra Sinfônica de João Pessoa in Brazil and Orquesta Sinfónica de Guayaquil in Ecuador, cooperating with conductors as Manfred Honeck, James Gaffigan, Michael Sanderling, Vasily Petrenko, Anja Bilmaier, Nicholas Collon and Elim Chan.
Noa won numerous awards at a young age, including the first prize at the International Violin Competition Louis Spohr in Weimar (at the age of 9), the first prize at the Iordens Violin Competition in The Hague (at the age of 10), the Concertgebouw Young Talent Award 2013 (at the age of 11) and she received the Anton Kersjes Violin Prize 2017 (at the age of 16). At Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Noa has been awarded the WEMAG Soloist Award 2018. Noa has been selected to be ECHO Rising Star for the season 2019-20 by the European Concert Hall Organisation; consequently, she toured through Europe, visiting the major concert halls.
Noa started her violin lessons at the age of 4 with Coosje Wijzenbeek and from 2013 Noa studied with Professor Vera Beths at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Currently Noa is studying under Professor Antje Weithaas at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. In addition to the regular classes Noa has attended masterclasses and lessons with Ivry Gitlis, Jaap van Zweden, Menahem Pressler, Frank Peter Zimmerman, Anner Bijlsma and Liviu Prunaru. From 2014 to 2019 Noa was a member of “Mutter Virtuosi”, a string ensemble led by Anne-Sophie Mutter. From 2015 to 2019 Noa held an official scholarship from the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation – their youngest member ever.
The Dutch public service broadcaster NTR produced the documentary “Noa11”, which was broadcast in November 2012. In September 2017 the documentary “A Family Quartet” was released about Noa and her family, which was screened in many Dutch theaters and was broadcast on TV.
Noa’s bow is a Dominique Peccatte, mid-19th-century, kindly on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation. Noa plays a 1750 violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, previously performed on by violinist Joshua Bell, generously loaned by a patron through the Tarisio Trust.
Olga Zado
Described as a “master of the magical art of rubato” (Hamburger Abendblatt) and often referred to as a “magician on the piano” (Mannheimer Morgen), Olga Zado touches audiences and critics around the world with her deep poetic musicianship and sparkling electrifying technique. As a highly gifted child Olga gave her first solo recitals and performances with orchestras from the early age of 7, making her international debut at the Kulturcasino Bern (age 12), performing Mozart Piano Concerto K.488. Born in Odessa, she received her musical education at the renown Stolyarsky Special Music School for young prodigies in the piano tradition of Heinrich Neuhaus. After continuing her musical studies with Mihaela Ursuleasa at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Bern, she received further important musical impulses from Leon Fleisher, Pavel Gililov, Jacques Rouvier, Bernd Glemser, Norma Fisher and especially from her current mentor Sergei Babayan.
Olga Zado has performed as a soloist at major European concert venues, such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Philharmonie at the Gasteig Munich, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Kulturcasino Bern, the Meistersingerhalle Nuremberg, the Mannheim Rosengarten, the Konzerthaus Karlsruhe and the Kremlin in Moscow. She has worked with orchestras such as the German Radio Philharmonic, the Ukrainian National Philharmonic, the Mannheim Philharmonic, the Bari Symphony Orchestra, the Biel-Solothurn Symphony Orchestra, the Kosovo Philharmonic and the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2013 to 2015 she was appointed Young Artist in Residence of the Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra. In November 2017 Olga Zado performed Schumann Piano Concerto in the Great Hall of the sold out Elbphilharmonie Hamburg where she received a standing ovation and an instant re-invitation for a solo recital in December 2018. Olga Zado is also passionately dedicated to chamber music and works with partners such as Antonio Meneses, Sergei Nakariakov, Alena Baeva, Alissa Margulis, Robert Kowalski, Jelena Ocic, Friedemann Eichhorn and others.
She is a laureate of the “Vladimir Horowitz” and “Sergei Prokofiev” international piano competitions, as well as a winner of the Therese-Dussault-Special-Prize at the “Vladimir Kraynew” competition. She held scholarships of the “Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation”, the “Apogey International Fund”, the “Music Association Legato Bern” and the Swiss “Lyra Foundation.”
